When Did This Event Occur?

there had always been an aggravated atmosphere between the two tribes but the tension really started to mount in 1990 when the diaspora refuge camps were created. This tension remained until October 1, 1990 when the Tutsi rebels attacked because they wanted recognition of their rights as Rwandans. From 1990 to 1993 the tension between the two tribes increased because of the violence and ethnic hatred. In 1993 the Habyarimana government was blamed for genocide. In July 1993 preparations for the genocide began. On January 11, 1994 the order was given to begin the genocide. On the evening of April 6, 1994, the airplane carrying the Rwandan President Juvénal Habyarimana, and Cyprien Ntaryamira, the Hutu president of Burundi, was shot down. This triggered the genocide into full action. The genocide gradually winded down until April 29, 1994, when the UN started a full scale relief operation to save as many people as possible.
