rwanda vs holocaust

The Rwanda Genocide mainly involved the two ethnic groups the Hutu and the Tutsi. Rwanda began to change after the Berlin Conference and the scramble for Africa back in 1885 when Germany wanted total control of Rwanda, but instead of taking over the area itself, Germany would rule “indirectly”. Germany would choose what they thought were the most elite ethnic group and give them special privileges. In 1990, Rwanda had been given relief when they gained independence. In 1985, Rwandans formed the Tutsi Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) to help them gain back their rights, which were not all repaid after gaining independence. the Tutsi wanted to go back into power but the other ethnic groups reacted with severe violence, which would continue to increase. The current leader, Habyarimana, began telling people that the Tutsi wanted total control back and that they wanted to enslave and control the Hutu people by going back to the feudal ways. Government leaders would meet with leaders called the Interahamwe("Those who stand or fight together") and Impuzamugambi ("Those who have the same or a single goal"). Before the genocide broke out, Hutu nationalism skyrocketed, government controlled radio stations news papers and some television stations would promote fear and the absolute hate of the Tutsi, who were considered subhuman and would have extremely dangerous and violent rallies. The Government played a huge role in broadcasting and brainwashing the Hutu and manipulating them into becoming violent and hateful. There were no real “laws” made to separate the two groups, but it was the government who told the Interhamwe and the Impuzamugambi to slaughter these people. It was very much like the holocaust, it was lead by the government and they had the same goal and the same effect on human kind as the holocaust
