Rwanda is one of the smallest countries in Central Africa with about 7 million people living in it. Each day there were about 10,000 people being killed over 800,000 total. There is two main ethnic groups in Rwanda. There is the Hutu and Tutsi. Even though that the Hutu makes up about 90% of the population, the Tutsi still had a very strong minority. In 1962, Rwanda was given independence from Belgium. The Hutu took over. The Hutu treated the Tutsi like Hitler treated the Jews. The Hutu used systematic acts of discrimination and violence against the Tutsi. As a result to the bad treatment, 200,000 Tutsi fled the country and built up a Guerilla Army.
