who was involved and when?

The Rwandan Genocide was a massacre of the Tutsis and Hutu tribes. The Interahamwe and the Impuzamugambi killed the Tutsies and Hutu tribes in 1994 during the Rwandan civil war. What made this event so controversial was that the United Nations did not respond to any of the killings. The United Nations Assistance Mission for Rwanda (UNAMIR) even sent help for the United Nations to help but the United Nations declined this request and did not respond. The only foreign nations to intervene was the French Government and they did not go there to stop the genocide but to protect the Rwandan forces from the invading rebels. The U.N. did not act and instead waited for over 800,000 people to be killed and then they stepped in to charge people with war crimes. These people included Jean-Baptise Gatete and Augustin Bizimungo. Some people are still wanted for their crimes today.
