Results of the Genocide
The genocide was finally over in July of 1994. When it was all over the death toll was around 1,000,000 people. Paul Kagame seized power and over ruled Hutu. Thousands of Hutu retreated to Zaire because they were afraid of the enemy countering their attack. After the Genocide the remaining hatred led to the first and second Congo wars. Villages were burned and things were stolen and looted from the people. The war lasted about a year before it was put to an end.
